By the Sycamore 8″ x 10″ Oil on canvas – $450 framed
I am bringing this favorite back to the front of the gallery today to celebrate its inclusion in “Color My World” a new show at Peninsula Gallery in Delaware!
Have you ever just stopped to take a moment and witness the wonder of a tree? Maybe it’s the child inside me that for years has been taken by the artistry of nature. Everything from the sturdy branches to the delicate shape of a leaf offers a moment of connection to magnificence. Even the scent can take me away—the sharp memory of pine or the cool drift of eucalyptus.
This sycamore provided such an experience one afternoon in a local park. I became enamored with its beautiful, mature architecture and the canopy of leaves that painted a palette of dancing shadows upon the grass. As I painted, the curves of the branches seemed to guide my brush toward the roots beneath the ground. The time felt fleeting, and I felt lucky to capture a moment that would never exist in exactly this same way again.
