The Floral Halo Oil on Canvas 8″ x 10″ – $475
Every object brought into the studio carries its own geometry, but some hold unexpected secrets. While painting this piece, I found myself drawn completely inward—away from the heavy, structural boundaries of the container and straight toward the delicate ring of blossoms nestled at its base. I began to think of it as a floral halo.
A halo implies a quiet light, a sense of protection, or something kept safe within a border. By framing these soft, patterned flowers inside the bold, confident weight of a deep blue rim, the painting became a study in contrasts. The graphic shadow on the tabletop grounds the piece, while the internal circular motif creates a serene focal point that pulls the eye right into the center of the canvas.
Unlocking the secret of this painting meant letting go of a rigid plan and allowing the subject to reveal itself. This kind of open studio exploration reminds me that when we slow down to look at the familiar things around us, even a simple domestic object can share its own quiet, poetic grace.
