“Untasted Gems” is a painting about breaking things down and removing details. In this case it entails using vegetables and glass vessels along with patterned fabric as the channels in the experience of creating a painting.
I like to simplify what I am seeing and in that process I often uncover delights within the subject or arrangement that may otherwise have become lost and overlooked. Simplifying isn’t always easy. Distractions are always present – like in life! For me it’s found in slowing down and allowing aspects of a silhouette to come forward as a vessel for color and coming to understand how the object in my view is emitting or reflecting light.
This was painted on a 10″ x 8″ gallery wrapped canvas in oils. It is a signed original and comes wired to hang without a frame but it can be framed. Note: the framed image is for suggestion only.
Enjoy!
