“Floral Imprints”

“Floral Imprints” 30″ x 30″ Oil on canvas – SOLD

Floral Imprints was inspired by a sense of exploration and curiosity. The warmly colored bouquet of flowers aligned so well with the artful terracotta vase. They seemed to compliment each other in an organic way. The surrounding shadows and lights also had a strong sense of place within the composition. Their bold geometric forms felt like a beautiful mosaic of support.

In working the painting I chose to emphasize the strong shapes and patterns of the entire visual space.  The detail on the vase and in the flowers contrasted deeply with the beautiful diagonal lights and shadows of the background and foreground areas.  An emerging southwestern influence occurred as my colors came together. It felt fitting for this still life in so many ways and was a surprise as part of the paintings unfolding.
