“Imaginary Travels”

“Imaginary Travels” 14″ x 11″ – Oil on canvas – $575

Paintings often take me to places I’ve never really been. It’s occurred to me lately that although I’ve been places and done some traveling, I haven’t really “explored” or considered places I might want to go. I’ve kind of gone along with where I felt life was leading me and set some dreams and curiosity aside. I don’t know if I will have more opportunity to travel in this later part of my life, but I’m enjoying revisiting the landscape as part of my painting.

Right now I’m working from photos I’ve taken walking and from my past. This piece originated from a visit to a neighbors garden some years ago. Being surrounded by the azaleas and lush green of a shady garden was food for my soul. I remember my mother’s love for azaleas and the ones we had in our yard that bloomed each spring. The intense colors still feels electric! So much of what goes on in creating a painting, for me is trying to convey that feeling, so other’s can experience it too.

This is the image of the physical location –

This painting was created on a gallery wrapped canvas in oils and is a signed original. If you have any questions or wish to purchase this painting, contact me at cmartzloffart@gmail.com. * Note the frame is for suggestion only. Thank you!Catherine
