The Taste of Color 12″ x 9″ Oil on panel – $400
This vibrant 12 x 9 inch vertical still life invites the viewer to explore the taste of color. A warm, expressive palette enhances the theme. A lively gathering of vegetables, fruits, and vintage wares adds character and charm. Russet reds, golden yellows, and rich indigo blues mingle throughout the composition, creating a sense of visual abundance and delight.
My work is deeply driven by color and influenced by my admiration for early Expressionist painters. This piece carries that emotive spirit through visible, energetic brushwork and a playful presence of pattern. Everyday objects become elevated within the composition. They are arranged with varied patterns. An intentionally unexpected sense of perspective invites curiosity and closer engagement.
I chose this to be part of Table Top Stories. Its warmth of palette reminds me of gatherings with friends. During these gatherings, memorable moments and conversations often unfold.
This painting was created on a canvas panel in oils and is a signed original. If you have any questions or wish to purchase this painting, contact me at cmartzloffart@gmail.com.

Can I ask, What color is your underpainting you often use? It looks siennas or crimsons. Your paintings are beautiful! Thank you
Hi Andrea, Thank you for asking and for the compliment! I don’t share about my process. Although I have always used Ultramarine Blue to do my sketch in before adding other color.
