“Embraced by Nature”

“Embraced by Nature” 30″ x 24″x 1.5″ Oil on canvas – SOLD

This landscape was inspired by a trail that I have walked a lot over the years. I love the experience of witnessing it through the change of season and the magical transformations that occur over time. These transformations I can count on to some degree although the landscape is never “exactly” the same each season.

In creating this large oil painting I worked from one of many photographs I’ve taken. I’m consistently drawn to pathways and this trail has a long one. On the left side past the vegetation a creek rests. It’s water level varies and in full summer parts of it are hardly visible. On the left side is an expansive field that gets farmed throughout the year; the crops rotate, sometimes its soybeans or alfalfa and other times it’s corn. When it’s full of corn you can imagine how protected and cozy this trail becomes. **The wildflowers in spring and summer are always there – this year they were robust and bright!

Although most of this painting is a reflection of the actual landscape I did take some artistic license. I created more space in the distance and more definitive trees before that transition. In reality it’s a bit more random and dense along the horizon so the vista past the trees is somewhat imaginative.

I hope you feel it’s calming nature and warm inviting embrace!
