Blue Jar and Wilted Blooms – 8″ x 10″ Oil on canvas – $300
There’s a quiet rhythm in this still life — a balance between form and feeling. The golden coneflowers, their petals softening and curling, lean toward the blue ginger jar as if in conversation. Their gentle wilt drew me in. There’s something human in that gesture. It’s something about the way beauty changes as time passes.
I’ve always loved the pairing of blue and yellow — the warmth and calm they create together. In this painting, that harmony feels both natural and intentional. It echoes the contrasts we carry within a single day. There are moments of ease beside moments of surrender. The jar and creamer remain steady, composed; the flowers bend and yield. Together, they form a quiet scene that holds space for everything. It includes the stillness. It includes the shift. It includes the acceptance that it all belongs.
Is there something that draws you in to this still life painting – an object, a color or a feeling? I’d love to hear your thoughts and your reflections. Catherine cmartzloffart@gmail.com
