This still life was inspired by an afternoon painting at a friends. It wasn’t quite warm enough to go outdoors. Instead, we set up near her kitchen. It was a space filled with windows and soft, luminous light. The arrangement was hers: simple, cheerful, and entirely natural in its charm. I was drawn to the play between pattern and form. I noticed the rhythm of fruit, pitcher, and vase. Each shape was held together by a gentle geometry.
Painted in 2021, this piece continues to resonate with my current direction. The color harmony and structured composition echo my recent work’s exploration of light, pattern, and the beauty of everyday spaces. A Place at the Table celebrates those small, shared moments that linger long after the day is done. It highlights the quiet companionship of creativity and the warmth of home.
Do you have a special memory around the kitchen table? I’d love to hear in the comments.
