The Farmstead, is a beautiful painting that was done onsite in 2017 on a farm in Central NJ. I loved the quiet presence of a red barn against a backdrop of shifting skies and soft autumn light. The foreground featured a beautiful pass of grasses. These grasses seemed to call for broad strokes of green and gold. They suggested the changing season.
An engaging contrast existed with the geometry of the barns structure and the looser surrounding landscape. Painted directly from life, it reflects both the immediacy of the moment and the timeless character of rural architecture.
