“Sunflowers for a Season”
There’s something about sunflowers that feels both grounded and celebratory. These blooms were a gift from my friend for a painting session. They brought a new richness to explore. I was especially drawn to the deep, velvety tones of the chocolate sunflowers. I hadn’t painted these tones before. Their bold presence carried warmth into the studio, radiating both strength and softness.
To balance their vibrancy, I placed them in a simple amber vase. I set them against the gentle violet of a charcuterie tray. This was a thoughtful gift from my daughter. That cool note of color adds a surprising harmony, letting the flowers shine all the more. This painting feels like a reminder of how beauty often comes through small exchanges of care. A friend shares flowers. A daughter offers a gift. There is joy in translating it all onto canvas.
In many ways, this piece is also about savoring time. Recording special moments, and letting them become part of a new story. A story that we can carry forward and let enrich our present lives.
