“Canyon Dreams” was inspired by my daughter’s trip to the Grand Canyon. I’ve never been there, but I was able to experience it through the images she shared. The vast openness and dramatic depth of the landscape stirred something in me, calling to be painted. I was amazed by the grandeur and intimacy. The endless reach of space complements the warm, grounding presence of the earth. My palette leaned into those sensations. It included the clay and terracotta hues of sun-baked earth. I captured the feeling of dry air and radiant light. I also focused on the striking contrast of deep violet shadows. Together, these elements created a vision of richness and mystery that opened my imagination.
