Snowy Evergreens was inspired by the beauty of winter. Painted on site just outside my back door one wintry morning in 2017. This landscape was fresh with new snow and laden with warm sunlight and purple/blue shadows. It was quiet and still, yet an energy vibrated through the air.
The painting captures an energy with its swift brushwork and delightful contrasts. The snow rests heavily on the limbs of the evergreens. A quiet hope lingers in the warm, golden light in the background. My hope was to capture the moment. It’s beauty and tranquility. It’s one of the things I love most about freshly fallen snow – it’s like a blanket of peace.
