Connecting with nature has a way of calming my soul. I especially enjoy walking among a gathering of trees and have since I was little. Some of my early experiences with trees include the fragrant scent of eucalyptus and pine. Today, it doesn’t take long before the settling effect of a walk in the woods transports me. The hustle and bustle of the day weakens as I become immersed in something far larger that feels more forgiving and reaches all my senses.
In this inspirational painting a path I travel throughout the seasons is in its full spring countenance. The variants of green are too immense to count, as are the varieties of trees, saplings and other wonderous green things emerging from the soil. One could get lost in here if it weren’t for a gently mown pathway. This path always invites ideas for a painting. Today, culling out the shapes and aspects of the vista brought me to this simplified rendering. Here, pools of color dominate and hint at the enveloping canopy of awe I felt before reaching the blue horizon.

This painting has a lovely sense of rhythm in those flowing sinuous shapes, with those gentle pastel shades. Your description is also truly masterful, Catherine.
Thank you so much Helene!
