Tis the season for daffodils!!!
At least once a year around this time I am drawn to creating a painting or two of daffodils. It’s the bright yellow color that attracts my eye and like a sunflower they remind me of smiling faces!
I have to admit a lot of my daffodils didn’t come into bloom this year. This gathering I caught right before a cold snap and felt really lucky to enjoy them for a few days, including having time to paint them. Some of my other daffodils I realize today didn’t bloom because I cut them too soon after they wrapped up blooming last year. Ugh!
Inspiration for this piece, as I said was the yellow color and I just liked the way they were sitting on my kitchen table next to a bowl of fruit. It was one of those moments where I am passing by and the “scene” just resonates with me as a potential painting. I’ve learned to listen to those inspirations and make the time to go with it.
This is full of brilliant color and some new pigments on my palette that I’m having fun working with. The beautiful geometric reflections I thank the sun for infusing after a series of rather grey days.
Enjoy!
