“The Pear” 8″x 10″ Oil on canvas – SOLD
Bold colors and a close up perspective were the inspirations behind this abstract still life painting. This was conceived from a painting I completed last year. I took a close up view of part of the painting and re-created it as a separate composition.
There’s something intriguing to me about work within a work. The idea that any one painting might contain many other beautiful components as stand alone artworks seems filled with creative inspiration. As a result, I’m on a little stint of exploring this idea in the context of still life painting and may examine a few landscapes using the same perspective.
What I loved about this section of the original painting were the curved lines. There’s a sensual quality in the piece which mirrors some aspects of the nature of fruit. The pear which has a palette quite separate from the more vivid hues of the oranges and apple stands out but at the same time seems to fit right within the context of curved line.
This dynamic small work of art is expressive and contains a very contemporary spirit that’s equipped to incite some thought and conversation.
