“Fall by the Bridge” 5″ x 7″ Oil on canvas – SOLD
Overcast days are the perfect opportunity to venture back into my files of landscape photos to see what inspires me. That’s how this small oil painting came about last month.
In one of my earlier posts I shared a plein-air oil painting created at Washington Crossing historic park in Pennsylvania. It was a beautiful late fall day and I took a bunch of photographs. I’m a sucker for color! Anyway, among the lot of imagery was this view taken by the bridge that connects PA to NJ. The historic Mc Conkey Ferry Inn is the building featured here and its located right at the entrance to the bridge. The inn is typical of what would have been found during the Revolutionary era. My view of the inn was from across the street. I became enamored with this perspective the color of the trees along with the architecture of the historic site.
Working small on a 5″ x 7″ canvas I had a lot of fun capturing some detail along with the warm rich hues of the day!
