“Cherry in the Grass” 8“x 10” SOLD
When the cherry trees are in bloom here in New Jersey it’s such a strong visual experience. As they line local streets it can be like driving through a magical forest that I wish could last forever.
This painting was done at a local park where there are a few cherry trees scattered around. I wanted to get up close to capture the grandness of the blooms. There’s something really comforting about standing under a cherry tree. The blossoms unfold with their radiant beauty and artfully hang from the graceful wood boughs.
Perhaps a more expressionist portrayal on canvas; I found myself responding to the bold color and dramatic contrast of pink and green. The blossoms were vibrant to my eye and the sweeping pattern of light in the green lawn completed the experience.
