“Preserving Color”

“Preserving Color” 12″ x 24″ oil on canvas  SOLD

I just want to preserve the color of life.  I think that’s what my heart desires as a painter.  Some part of me knows that’s  not possible and that the richness of living lies in it’s impermanence. But I guess while I’m here I can preserve what I can for the moment.

This painting stemmed from my love of glass.  Vintage canning jars and some newer ones became the subject.  The reflections created so many interesting colors. At times I needed to be very patient with myself to see them. The elongated format seemed to fit the subject well.
