I just can’t get enough of that snow!!! And since today it’s in the high 60’s (completely out of the ordinary for February) I continue to turn to past resources for inspiration.
This oil painting was developed from a photograph of mine from this year. The image itself was not that great but I was so inspired by the components of the scene when I took the photo that I hoped I could work from the inspiration to paint, filling in the rest as I moved along. Fortunately, this is a road I travel on quite frequently throughout the year so I am familiar with the location and landscape. This day was quite blustery and grey all over so I aimed toward pulling out some winter color. Cool blues and a variety of neutrals seemed to pair themselves well.
There’s not a lot for me to say about this other than I really enjoyed painting it and watching it progress. The process always includes some awareness of fear going on inside myself as to how much more do I go. Maybe that’s a feeling I will always have and one that at least attunes me to my choice in stopping and letting the work be as it is.
