“Day Break on the Farm” 10″ x 8″ oil on canvas SOLD
There have been numerous times over the years where I have driven by this farmstead. It’s always stood out to me. There’s a large expanse of land that precedes the architectural arrangement. And over the years no safe area to set up an easel to paint.
As with most things in life – stuff changes! Over the past year or so I notice a path and small parking area that were put in. Opportunity knocked at my heart, and on this Sunday morning I headed out to paint the location.
It was a beautiful sunny morning. I got there early to beat the heat, knowing I would be painting in full sun which isn’t the easiest or most conducive to color selection. However, sometimes you just have to “go with it”. The painting really flowed for me. It was a great experience and I’m happy with the outcome.
The site is the historic Updike Farmstead in Princeton, NJ. You can read more about that here: Updike Farmstead History
