“Out in the Field” 8″ x 10″ oil on canvas SOLD
Taking a break from working in my studio this week. The weather has been spectacular so that’s been part of the inspiration. I have also been missing plein air painting.
With that in mind, my focus this week has been on going outdoors. On Monday I traveled over to the Pole Farm in Hopewell, NJ. It was late afternoon. The light is usually nice about then. I found this lovely vista, which I have painted before from a slightly different position. As I arrived clouds started to move in, the wind picked up and it just became more beautiful.
This painting was worked on a 10″ x 8″ canvas in oils. I have to say the sky was fun to work with. It kept changing and I kept seeing more colors. It was a peaceful way to spend the afternoon. I was surrounded by nature and birds singing all around me. How much more could I hope for!

Exactly and spot on Catherine – what a wonderful day. The results show in your beautiful painting of End of Spring sunlight and the hazy days of summer just beginning.
Thank you Mary! I appreciate your comments and experience with my work.
