“Early Morning on Main” 16″x 12″ SOLD
Although I am an early bird this particular painting I did from a photograph I took one morning as the sun was rising through town. The light was spectacular and the first signs of color brilliant.
There’s so much significance at the onset of spring and I think this painting captures a hopeful, bright spirit. I painted it over several days, taking breaks in between to see what was calling out that needed adjusting. There’s a lot of what I would call “flat” color in this work, which isn’t always my favorite but perhaps it adds a bit of stillness to the piece. Mornings generally seem to have that around here and it’s a quality I like to treasure. It may be why I’ve been an early riser.
