“Barn Side Entrance”

“Barn Side Entrance” 9″x 12″ oil on masonite

Several weeks ago, I was invited to paint at a local farm where the specialty there is grass fed beef.  It was a lovely farm, very rustic and quiet at 7:30 am.

The farm owner was so pleasant and had little limitations on where I could roam.  My priority was to find a shady area to work under.  There were many beech trees thus the name of the farm “Beechtree Farm”.

This scene captures a close up view of a gathering of sheep just outside their barn.  The sheep were added after I got back to my studio.  It was difficult to capture them in real time.  Over all I’m happy with the gentle nature of the painting. It almost has a childlike quality to it. Maybe that’s what was stirred up in me as I was on site that morning.
