“Down the Shore” 12″ x 16″ SOLD
With summer in full swing I have found myself wanting to capture beach scenes. Although at heart I’m more of a lake person there is something drawing me toward this kind of scenery.
This painting was done a little before the season started and was worked from a photo I took last year in Spring Lake, NJ. I liked the combination of elements. The architecture in the background, the sandy beach and people scattered throughout. The feeling of an oncoming storm added a bit of mystery and was exactly like the day.
So many times there can be subtle and not so subtle contrasts. I just want to appreciate them in their entirety.
I hope to get to the beach soon with my easel in tow. It’s likely to be an early morning adventure in order to miss the heat and full sun. Gratefully, I am an early riser!
