This oil painting was completed last week. As you can see I am enjoying exploring aspects of “winter”. This particular piece was inspired by a photograph I took a couple of years ago after a major snow storm. It was a quiet morning. The roads unoccupied, so I ventured out into the quiet with my camera in tow not knowing what I might experience.
What I liked about this shot was the peacefulness. After a heavy snow that’s often what I notice most. While it’s not my preferred way to paint (working from a photograph) I like how this piece evolved and the outcome.
The painting was done on a 14″ x 18″ canvas in oils.
