With the cooler weather coming I decided to take some Dahlia’s a friend had given me from their garden over the holiday weekend and create a still life arrangement with them. I incorporated an antique copper tea kettle and the tomato. I liked the combination of colors and the pop of the red in the tomato as part of the composition. This was done over the course of several days on a 14″x 18″ canvas in oils. I built up the paint in areas and really worked on a variety of brush stokes. The piece has quite a bit of texture which I like.
