I love trees and this was such a peaceful setting that I couldn’t resist. This was painted at Monmouth Battlefield in Freehold, NJ. There are a lot of rolling fields but I decided to explore another area and came upon this. I also loved the gentle markings in the field leading back it just lent itself to the feeling of space and dreams.
While I was there working on a smaller sketch of just the tree I had a visit from a little snake who slid across this painting as it laid in the grass. Snakes aren’t one of my favorite creatures and it gave me a scare but he/she went on her way rather quickly.
This was painted on an 8″ x 10″ canvas in oils.
