Misty Morning Village Tow Path

Misty Morning Village Tow Path Last Sunday I made a trip to Lambertville, NJ with the intention of painting “en plein air”.  Although it was misting out I had hopes that this would stop only to experience increasing rain!  Creative as I am I decided to take my camera and photograph some of the scenery thinking I might use the photographs as inspiration when I returned home.

This is one of the outcomes from one of my snapshots.  I worked this on a 16″x 20″ canvas in oils.  The experience painting from a photo is not one of my favorites as I feel limited in my ability to really identify with the subject.  However, I think I learn to rely a little more on memory and inspiration in the absence of being in physical contact with the scene.
